Streetcorner Canvasses Brings Public Art to Little Flower

If you've passed the intersection of 10th Street and Bosart Avenue lately, you may have noticed that the neighborhood's only traffic signal box has been transformed into a colorful work of art. The mural was created through the Streetcorner Canvasses program, an initiative of the Indy Arts Council that pairs professional artists with neighborhoods to turn everyday utility boxes into vibrant public art.

More than beautification, Streetcorner Canvasses celebrates the unique identity of Indianapolis neighborhoods while supporting local artists and creating welcoming, walkable public spaces. Each design is inspired by the community it serves, helping tell local stories and fostering neighborhood pride.

The Little Flower traffic signal box features a whimsical, storybook-inspired scene filled with blooming flowers, wildlife and children reading and exploring — capturing themes of imagination, growth and community. The project is a wonderful example of how public art can transform ordinary infrastructure into a neighborhood landmark. A big thank you to the neighbors involved in bringing this project to our neighborhood; it was truly a team effort!
